Welcome!
My name is David Lawrence, and I'm delighted that you are considering ADHD & Executive Function Coaching for yourself or someone you care about. I work with adults and teens, with special emphasis on those in the education world (students, teachers, principals) and the business world (managers, executives, founders). My coaching approach focuses on empowering individuals to recognize their amazing strengths, overcome tough challenges, set and achieve meaningful goals, and lead a happier, more fulfilling life.
My Story
I was diagnosed with ADHD late in life - well into my 50s. So I am intimately aware of the unique challenges it presents, as well as the feelings of frustration and shame that can accompany it. Working with an ADHD Coach as a client, I quickly recognized the powerful changes that skillful coaching provided, and I saw (and felt) the benefits of working with a coach almost immediately. This experience inspired me to become an ADHD Coach myself, so that I could support others to live their best lives in harmony with their unique brain wiring.
As a longtime public school teacher and principal, I've seen firsthand how difficult school and learning can be for students with ADHD and other executive function challenges. Notebooks and backpacks exploding with paper, missed homework deadlines, projects & papers left to the last minute, emotional outbursts and dysregulation, daydreaming in class, an inability to sit still - these students were often on the receiving end of inordinate negative attention from teachers and even other students. But these students also had incredible strengths! My students with ADHD were often amazingly creative, outside-the-box thinkers who could solve challenging problems, write amazing stories, and share deep knowledge about topics and subjects that they were interested in.

Prior to my education career, I spent twelve years running a successful family business. With over 125 employees, I saw how ADHD and executive function challenges could really impede their productivity and job performance, as well as their self-esteem and job satisfaction. And yet some of those very same colleagues had enormous strengths and were capable of making important contributions to our company's success!

My mission as an ADHD Coach is to partner with my clients - both teens and adults - to learn about their unique brain wiring, really recognize their extraordinary talents and strengths, and overcome their ADHD-related challenges using strategies that are sustainable, durable, and in harmony with how their brains naturally operate. It is a natural outgrowth of my 30+ years supporting the growth and development of thousands of students, staff members, and employees. It is enormously rewarding work, and I'm excited that you are considering joining my practice!
